Well known local families

I thought it would be a good idea to feature well known families from Barnsley and the Barnsley Area, my first contribution is given by Peter Dallas.

Above, Seth Kilner - Obituary 1933

Kilner Road was named after Roy Kilner, the Yorkshire and England cricketer. There is a large monument at his grave in Wombwell cemetery. His father was Seth Kilner, also a well known cricketer. I have attached Seth's obituary which mentions Roy. Not sure if this is right for your website but I have a few other things about the Kilners and Washingtons and also the Camplejohns. Annie Camplejohn was the wife of Roy Kilner and the Camplejohns ran a charabanc service in the West Riding. The photo shows a trip to Derbyshire for the officials of Mitchell Main Colliery. It was taken outside the Hodgkinson Hotel in Matlock Bath in 1913. My great uncle Alec Dallas, the colliery surveyor is third from the front with his wife. The driver is Sidney Camplejohn.
