The little ships which launched a legend set sail once more across the Channel, yesterday - May 27th.

The evacuation - between  27th May and 4th June 1940 - came after the Navy called upon boats of every size to head for France under heavy fire to head for France  under heavy fire to save the men trapped by the advancing German army.

Described as a miracle of deliverance by wartime prime minister Winston Churchill it is seen as a pivotal event and gave rise to the phrase " The Dunkirk Spirit".
